Anni Albers. Constructing Textiles

Anni Albers. Constructing Textiles presents Albers’s well-known practice of handweaving in a new light that emphasizes her role as a textile designer, her grasp of the key role of materials in the design process, and her thoughtful and deliberate collaborations with architects and other fabricators. The exhibition follows through-lines among the multiplicity of materials, techniques, and applications that underline Albers’s experimental approach. Albers donated a significant number of her works to museums which have generously loaned a selection to the exhibition. Many are being shown here for the first time.
