Josef Albers: Duets
David Zwirner, Paris
15 January–21 March 2026
Organized in collaboration with the Albers Foundation, Josef Albers: Duets presents significant paintings and works on paper from the 1930s through the 1970s in which two related forms are played against one another. In some of the works, one element is simply a reversal of the other, but usually the pairings are more complex. The exhibition includes key works from Albers’s best-known Homage to the Square series, as well as examples of his Variants, also called Adobes because of their relationship to the architecture that riveted the artist in Mexico and the American southwest. Rare early drawings and photographs together with examples of Albers’s Structural Constellations add to the richness of the exhibition.
